  • 15 Things You Need to Know About Eyelash Extensions

If you’ve ever put on fake eyelashes, you know that they literally transform your face. Without a stitch of makeup, you could look spectacular. Your eyes open up, you look refreshed - you could even pull off a braided terry headband à la Let’s Get Physical, (and let’s be honest Olivia Newton John was the only one who ever pulled that off).

  • Caitlyn Jenner's Transgender Transformation: A Doctor's Point of View

I’m not going to lie - when I saw Caitlyn Jenner’s Vanity Fair cover I was mesmerized by her beauty. Her flawless feminine features were a 180 degree transformation from the former Olympic athlete's masculinity and the unveiling in and of itself was powerful on many levels. In fact, her quite public transformation has essentially put her on the map as a beacon of strength and resilience for those individuals who are currently in the trenches dealing with their own personal transgender journeys.

  • The “Democratization of Plastic Surgery”

    By: Genevieve Miller

When perusing Facebook the other day, I noticed that a number of friends had posted about TIME magazine’s current cover story, “Nip, Tuck, or Else.”

  • Does Plastic Surgery Increase Your Likability?

We already know that plastic surgery, performed by the hands of a talented board-certified surgeon from the American Board of Medical Specialists (ABMS) can enhance how you look.

It can be minimal, (a bit of lipo here and there) or a bit more dramatic, (a plumper butt, bigger breasts etc.) and today, you can change just about everything with one plastic surgery procedure or another. We can look thinner, more voluptuous, younger… but that’s only skin deep. What does it do to the inside?

  • The Latest in Weird and Wonderful: 2015’s Most Unusual Procedures

There’s a unique intersection in our culture where advances in science meet an “extreme” section of the population and create such pop cultural anomalies as the Human Ken and Barbie doll, Cat Women and the three-boobed Floridian. Then there are the rest of us.

  • Plastic Surgery Makes It to the Vatican

People love to hate aesthetic plastic surgery. Print media, social media, television, and radio all tell stories of overdone or botched plastic surgery.

Even the Vatican is dishing on the subject. From February 4 - 7, the Pontifical Council for Culture assembled to discuss "Women's Cultures: Equality and Difference." Cosmetic surgery, they pontificated, "can be aggressive toward the feminine beauty." They further asserted, "Plastic surgery is like a burqa made of flesh."

Plastic Surgery a Burqa of Flesh?

  • Average Cost of Plastic Surgery Procedures: The Numbers Game

The American plastic surgery industry is a multi-million dollar business, but how much do individual procedures cost patients? Even though this is one of the first questions people ask themselves when considering cosmetic surgery, it can be hard to answer with so many contradictory “facts.” While, in fairness, prices can vary by geographical location and plastic surgeon among other factors, I thought I would round up the national averages for the top five surgical and nonsurgical procedures in 2014, as reported by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

  • How Much Cosmetic Surgery is Too Much?

Before Michael Jackson’s passing, there was a rumor floating around that he had undergone excessive plastic surgery on his nose and as a result, had to wear a prosthetic one - as there simply wasn't enough skin left to sustain functionality. Regardless of whether or not it was true, if you compared photos of him from the 70s through the late 90s, it was quite clear that he had completely changed the look of his nose repeatedly… which begs the question – Why wasn’t he ever fully satisfied with the results?

  • Local Anesthesia and Plastic Surgery: Marketing or Reality?

An increasing number of patients ask to have their surgery done with local anesthesia “because it’s safer.” Guess what? That isn’t always the case.

  • Cosmetic Surgery by the Numbers: Global Edition

When it comes down to it, there isn’t really a set standard of beauty throughout the world. Some countries idealize porcelain white skin, while others promote tanning. Preferences can even vary from one city to its immediate neighboring city! But no matter where you’re from, there’s no denying that there is a motivation to be beautiful – whatever that means to you – and more than ever before, people are hoping to achieve their best looking selves through the latest aesthetic procedures.
