I had a breast augmentation in August 2019. My left breast is round and looks how a breast should look. However my right breast is not round at the bottom and takes on a slanted shape at the bottom. My surgeon refuses to give me any advice on this or offer any kind of help and I hate how my breasts…

Thank you for your question. It is hard to answer this question without seeing before and after photos. However, your surgeon should be able to explain the result so you can understand. In some cases, there is a pre-existing asymmetry. Sometimes on the side that looks slanted, the pocket needs to be opened more. I suggest getting a second opinion from an Aesthetic Society members who does a lot of breast surgery. You will get the most from your second opinion visit if you bring your operative report and implant information with you. You should be happy with your result.

Thank you for your question. Based on the information you provided, I would suggest a second opinion from another board certified plastic surgeon.
An ultrasound can be done to see how much blood is still present. The ongoing severe pain is concerning. In this scenario,
in my practice I would take you to the operating room and evacuate the hematoma and possible replace the implant and put in a drain.

Hello. What you describe sounds like capsular contracture. It is important to be evaluated. If you cannot find a plastic surgeon in your area, go to a breast general surgeon. Get a mammogram, breast ultrasound and possibly MRI to make sure there are no abnormaliities in the breast tissue. An MRI may be necessary because if there is capsular contracture, the mammogram will not be as accurate. Capsular contracture can happen at any time after surgery.
Once established. non-surgical interventions will not help a Grade III/IV capsular contracture. Surgery will correct the problem with a low chance of recurrence.

Could I qualify for a breast reduction? I’m 17, 5’9, 145 pounds. Been this height for 4 years, but my breasts have grown since. I have a 36in breast, 28in waist, and 33in hip. Could I go down to 32in measurement?

Thank you for your question. Breast reduction is helpful for patients who are experiencing back, neck and shoulder pain from large breasts. I would need to know your cup size to help guide you. A reduction will not change the band size, so your bra would not go from a 36 to a 32. It would reduce your cup size. Sometimes people are not wearing the correct size bra, and this makes it hard to figure out what is going on. For example, you might be wearing a 36DD bra, but maybe you should be wearing a 34E bra. Many patients wear a bra with a band that is too big and the cup size is too small. So it is possible you would benefit from a reduction. The best thing to do is contact an Aesthetic Society member for a consultation. We are offering in-person and virtual consultations. This way you will get very accurate information about your situation.

Patients are seen for consultation in either our Manhattan or Quogue office. Initial consultation appointments are usually 30-45 minutes. The length of the consultation is such that Dr. Pfeifer has enough time to fully understand your goals, explain the best option to suit your personal goals and fully answer any question you have.

Dr. Pfeifer performs her surgeries at Hamptons Plastic Surgery and 5th Avenue Millennial. Both facilities are accredited by AAAASF (The American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery. As such both facilities satisfy stringent safety standards. Hamptons Plastic Surgery is located in Dr. Pfeifer’s private office in Quogue. 5th Avenue Millennium is located in our office on 5th Avenue and 94th Street. All patients are cared for by Board Certified Anesthesiologists.
