About Mark Vincent Sofonio, MD, FACS
Introduction
Dr. Sofonio brings to the Desert community the quality, compassion and individualized care that is essential when choosing your plastic surgeon. He also combines this caring approach with a highly refined eye for aesthetic detail. His belief is that plastic surgery is more than simply the movement of tissue, it should be an expression of an art form. In this office your needs are Dr. Sofonio’s most important concern, and he will strive to make your aesthetic surgery a pleasant and satisfying experience.
Education & Training
Dr. Sofonio successfully completed the accelerated U.C.R./U.C.L.A. combined undergraduate/medical school program with Magna Cum Laude honors.
Following graduation from U.C.L.A. Medical School, he served an internship and General Surgery residency at the University of Hawaii. He then completed his plastic surgery residency training at the Medical College of Ohio.
Dr. Sofonio has also completed several post-residency fellowships. He ran a Burn Unit/Wound Care Center at the Medical College of New York. He also received extra cosmetic surgery training from some of the world’s foremost aesthetic surgeons at the Connell Aesthetic Surgery Institute.
