Professional Background
Dr. Gallus founded her plastic surgery practice, Restore SD Plastic Surgery, in 2017 after a successful 20-year career as a Navy plastic surgeon. She served as a general practitioner with the Marines and traveled to many locations including Dubai, Singapore, and Thailand before returning to complete her General Surgery Residency at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. In 2006, she obtained board certification in both Plastic Surgery (ABPS) and General Surgery (ABS) from the Naval Medical Center San Diego. I am sorry that you are unhappy with your early results after surgery. Without a photo or examination, it is impossible to say if you will need revisional surgery or what that would entail. I would continue to follow up with your surgeon to ensure you recover well and discuss make sure you let him/her know your concerns. You understand that it is too early to make changes and this isn't your first surgery so please be patient with the postoperative process and give your self at least 6 months to heal. I am having replacement breast augmentation with lift also lipo flanks and stomach mini tummy tuck. I am in great health also I had 2 c sections 8 years ago. I am worried how long is recovery and pain?

Thank you for your question. Although there is always post-operative surgical pain, this can be alleviated with medication, rest and post-surgical care such as ice packs and compression garments to ensure your recovery is as comfortable as possible. I would allow yourself 2 weeks for recovery and an additional 4 weeks before you return to your baseline activities such as strenuous exercise and lifting heavy items. It is best to review your post-operative recovery plan in detail with your board certified plastic surgeon to ensure you are on the same page. Best of luck with your surgery!

I believe the skin on my areola is dying after a breast lift, will new skin grow underneath the black scab?

Thank you for your question. I am sorry that you are experiencing concerns after surgery. A black scab could represent dried blood or areola skin that may be compromised. If it is the second scenario, new skin will grow underneath but it is difficult to know how deep the skin injury is without an examination. I recommend that you follow up with your plastic surgeon so that they can properly assess your recovery.

Thank you for your question. Breast implants tend to naturally move laterally and down over time - just like real breasts. Although most plastic surgeons recommend a massage protocol following breast augmentation it is important to review your postoperative protocol with your surgeon and the clinical team. As they know the details of your surgery, they are in the best position to recommend whether you should continue the bra band or alter your massage technique Best of luck with your recovery!
