About the Practice

Practice Philosophy

As Director of Aesthetic Surgery for one of the premier plastic surgery practices in Chicago, Dr. Schierle is dedicated to helping his patients look and feel their best. Every patient is unique and requires a customized approach integrating a conservative synergy of aesthetic, medical, and surgical technologies to provide a safe, beautiful result. Raised in a family of architects in Beverly Hills, California, Dr. Schierle combines aesthetic and reconstructive goals in each of his cases. The son of a Chinese mother and German father, Dr. Schierle speaks seven languages and applies his unique cultural perspective to help address patients' aesthetic concerns across a broad range of ethnic backgrounds.

Practice Specialization

Dr. Clark Schierle performs state-of-the-art procedures including endoscopic minimal scar breast augmentation, mommy makeovers and tummy tucks without the need for drains, advanced open and closed rhinoplasty, minimal scar face and neck lift techniques, as well as the full spectrum of plastic surgery including eyelid surgery, liposuction, body contouring, and medical aesthetic treatments including BOTOX® and injectable fillers.

Professional Background

Dr. Schierle received his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where he began as a full-time student at the precocious age of twelve. After completing a postgraduate research fellowship in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics, he went on to earn an MD from Harvard Medical School and a PhD in Microbiology & Molecular Genetics from Harvard University.

Dr. Schierle completed his training in plastic surgery in Chicago, IL, at the prestigious seven year Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency program at Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois, where he received extensive training in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the face, breast and body. He has trained and worked extensively with surgeons from Northwestern Memorial Hospital, Children's Memorial Hospital, NorthShore University HealthSystem including Evanston, Glenbrook and Highland Park Hospitals, Chicago's Shriners Hospital, and the Chicago Center for the Surgery of the Hand.

Teaching Appointments

Dr. Schierle is Director of Aesthetic Surgery for NSPS and holds faculty appointments at Northwestern University and the University of Illinois at Chicago.

Publications and Presentations

Dr. Schierle has been asked to present at national and international meetings such as the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and the Chinese Society of Plastic Surgeons. He has lectured on topics as diverse as three-dimensional imaging for plastic surgery, endoscopic breast augmentation, advanced rhinoplasty techniques, wound healing, scarring, lower extremity reconstruction, cosmetic breast surgery, non-surgical treatments for aging, and face transplantation. Dr. Schierle has authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, including Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Journal of Reconstructive Microsurgery, Journal of Trauma, Wound Repair & Regeneration and the Aesthetic Surgery Journal, as well as book chapters for authoritative texts on cosmetic and reconstructive procedures such as Practical Plastic Surgery, Cosmetic Bootcamp Primer, and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Board Review.

Awards & Honors

Dr. Schierle's work in advancing both the cosmetic and reconstructive aspects of Plastic Surgery has been nationally recognized by awards from both the Wound Healing Society and the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
