Is there a corrective measure for long term laser facial side effects?

I had ablative fraxel facial laser 2 years ago, and still have itchy atopic dermatitis with redness and scaling. Two dermatologists have treated me for rosacea and mild acne with oral and topical meds with no success, still breaking out daily. Is there a corrective measure for long term laser facial side effects?

Sorry to hear about your experience! When laser resurfacing is performed, it is always important to perform the treatment conservatively, as deep resurfacing can cause loss of valuable dermal tissue and thin the skin. On the whole, however, laser treatments are highly beneficial to the patient's skin. I've noticed in many patients who have had aggressive fractional laser resurfacing that fully ablative carbon dioxide laser treatments performed conservatively can help with pore size. Definitely consult with a plastic surgeon who lives and breathes laser treatments; hopefully you will find some relief!

Atopic dermatitis can be difficult to treat. You could start with trial and error of skin moisturizers to apply at least twice a day. Look for ones that are a little more on the heavy side and contain no fragrance. Some of the health food stores may be useful to look at. If that does not work then try good old petroleum jelly. Also be sure to look at the other products you are cleaning your skin with but also clothing and bed sheets to reduce any irritants.
