Permanent suture poking out of my skin, is this normal?

I had a breast augmentation 10 years ago in Chicago and today I felt a blue wiry suture poking out from under my breast. At first I pulled it out a little with tweezers, but it just kept coming and it kind of hurts inside my breast now. Should I go see another plastic surgeon? Is this normal?

Thanks for submitting your question and hopefully all is resolved. When permanent sutures work their way out to the surface it is essential to have them removed. Seeing your original surgeon would be ideal but if that surgeon is not available, seeing another board-certified plastic surgeon in your area would be best. If seeing another surgeon, it would be helpful to obtain a copy of your operative report and bring it with you to the appointment. Best wishes on resolving this issue.

See your plastic surgeon for exposed permanent suture after breast augmentation. If unable to reach original surgeon try to obtain operative report so new surgeon can understand what was done during your breast augmentation. My concern is communication between outside and inside your breast and concern about risk of infection of implant. Please be seen soon.
