Thank you for your question and your interest in breast reduction surgery. 1 Kg equates to 2.2 pounds and is quite a substantial amount of tissue to be removed. Insurance criteria for coverage vary from company to company and plan to plan. It is best to see a board certified plastic surgeon who accepts your insurance and develop a surgical plan that is individualized to your needs. Because everyone is built differently removing a specific amount of weight can lead to different results on different body and breast sizes. Weight and volume are two different measurements so partnering with your surgeon to develop a customized approach will go a long way to ensuring your symptoms are treated and your appearance is optimized. Doing your homework and understanding your plan coverage can really help with the approval and scheduling process. Best wishes on obtaining a great result!

Thank you for asking. 1 Kg is approximately 2.2 pounds. This is a significant amount for breast tissue. Cup size is a different issue. A Kilogram is a unit of mass. Cup size is more a function of volume. So the same amount of MASS removed from one patient can be a different cup size (VOLUME) from another patient because the breasts may be different in DENSITY. Talk with your board certified plastic surgeon! Best wishes!
