Using marijuana before a breast reduction

Hello I was wondering if it’s safe to use marijuana before a breast reduction surgery. My surgery is scheduled for January 22nd. Last time I smoked was January 7.

No, not necessarily but you should always be honest with your doctor as well as anesthesologist with what you are taking for it may interfere with your anesthesia adversely!

Marijuana should not affect your breast reduction surgery outcome. However, it may affect the anesthesia plan. Make sure to inform your anesthesiologist that you have been smoking weed prior to your surgery.

Let your surgeon and anesthesia provider know. Try to cut back to avoid any healing problems from inhaling smoke. Smokeless options may be safer from a wound healing standpoint.

It is very important to inform your surgeon that you smoke marijuana even if it is only occasionally. Although you will most likely be fine, your surgeon and the anesthesiologist need to know all substances that may be in your system for safety reasons when prescribing post operative and anesthetic medications.
