Tummy tuck and/or liposuction
Can a tummy tuck and/or liposuction be done with a Wall stent in an Iliac Vein?
I am a 5'8" 180 pound 46 year old mother of 2. Two years ago I had a stent placed in the right iliac vein due to lower leg swelling. Are there any contraindications to having a tummy tuck or abdominal and flank liposuction? Also, when I eat my belly protrudes as if I'm 7 months pregnant unless I hold it in. Any ideas to the cause of this?
We would need to understand better the risk to you of doing a fairly long procedure under general anesthesia. I think more information from your hematologist or vascular surgeon would be helpful. This is an elective cosmetic procedure and as such we would want to minimize the risks as much as possible. On the other hand your current state is causing you considerable distress, and that would justify taking some risk. We just need to clarify what kind of risk this is and whether it is reasonable for you. We would need the input from your other doctors.
As far as the stent issue, you need to discuss this with the physician who placed it, pr sumably a vascular surgeon. Leg swelling and a stent can be a serious issue that would make elective aesthetic surgery too risky. The protruding belly button may be from post feeding distinction that can be related to diet and how your GI tract responds to it. A nutritionist might assist you with this.
Of course it requires a more detailed history and physical exam to determine whether or not you are appropriate for the procedure you described. Before any procedure is considered I suggest seeking out a nutritionist to help solve this dietary issue. It may be related to gluten or issues that can be resolved with modification of your diet.
