Celebrity cosmetic surgery trends of 2014 revealed
People frequently seek to copy their favorite celebrities when it comes to style, whether they're selecting similar hair styles or taking cues from fashion choices. According to RealSelf.com, these stars are also influential in the plastic surgery realm, as many patients seeking cosmetic procedures frequently mention certain celebrities they would like to resemble.
In the first several months of 2014, individuals who went under the knife to look exactly like their favorite stars received a great deal of press in the media, from the man who paid $100,000 to look like Justin Bieber to the woman who wanted to look exactly like Jennifer Lawrence. In reality, however, such outlandish requests are rare among board-certified plastic surgeons.
Alicia Nakamoto, the vice president of RealSelf, explained to Time magazine that many individuals who are looking into plastic surgery may request features flaunted by famous people, but rarely do these patients seek full face or body transformations.
"Ninety-nine percent of the people do not want to look like a celebrity," Nakamoto said, as quoted by the source. "They just want to fix something very personal and go on with their lives feeling more confident with themselves."
While the majority of people do not wish to resemble certain celebrities, RealSelf reported that there were several features that stood out among cosmetic patients in the first several months of 2014. The organization compiled data from plastic surgery hopefuls who visited the site and determined a handful of common requests related to celebrities. Kim Kardashian's butt produced the greatest number of results, followed closely by Beyoncé's rear end, and Madonna's hands and face. Angelina Jolie's lips, Jennifer Lawrence's nose and Julia Roberts' smile also made the list.
