Professional Background

Lowe Plastic Surgery, PLLC is a family practice. Dr. Jim Lowe opened his private practice in August 2006. In 2010, he moved his practice to a new, state-of-the-art facility that allows easy access and parking for their patients. This collaborative practice is one of the most respected in Oklahoma City.

Education & Training

Born and raised in Oklahoma City, Jim Lowe attended Baylor University in Waco, Texas, earning a B.A. in history and pre-medicine. After earning a medical degree from the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in 1992, he completed five years of training in general surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center. Although he began his training in general surgery, it was plastic surgery that became his passion. After completing his medical training, Dr. Lowe joined the faculty at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis and was promoted to Assistant Professor of Surgery. In 2002, he received an M.B.A. in health sciences management at Washington University’s Olin School of Business. In 2004, Dr. Lowe became Chief of Cosmetic Surgery at Washington University School of Medicine and Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.

Dr. Lowe has continued his involvement in resident education, with clinical research focused on peripheral nerve surgery, potency following prostatectomy, cosmetic surgery, ethnic aging, and optimizing health management and efficiency. How Dr. Lowe goes beyond

“What I love most about plastic surgery," Dr. James (Jim) Lowe says, "is the great sense of satisfaction when I see the end result.” Specializing in facial procedures such as blepharoplasty, facelift, neck lifts, rhinoplasty, laser treatment, and injectable treatments, Dr. Lowe helps his patients look young and beautiful. Dr. Lowe also performs a large number of breast enhancement and body contouring procedures. His practice is about 80 percent cosmetic surgery and 20 percent reconstructive surgery. With a certified surgical OR facility on site, Dr. Lowe can provide excellent continuity of care, which is a true advantage for his patients in Oklahoma City. “I form a lasting partnership with my patients,” Dr. Lowe explains. “I owe my patients peace of mind; that’s why I am so honest with them.” For many patients visiting the Oklahoma City office, plastic surgery is more of a want than a need. Dr. Lowe's philosophy is one of a realist. If he believes a procedure is not right for you, or perhaps not right at this time, he will tell you. "I don’t sell operations,” he explains. "I recommend what is best for each patient and my wonderful staff and I make their experience a truly positive one. I ask patients to bring the person who will be caring for them after surgery to the final meeting – even if that aftercare will only be a day or two." This realistic approach gives Dr. Lowe a chance to ensure that each patient knows what to expect. His patients are as comfortable and as safe as possible. It all starts with the first consultation. That’s where the connection begins, getting to know what is in the patient’s mind and heart and realistically deciding if surgery is appropriate. He says he is clear about the benefits and the risks of the procedure, seeing a patient again once or twice before surgery and then making sure he is there afterwards. Even a year out, he'll want to see the patient and make sure everything is going well. “I take pride in my meticulous attention to detail. Some people call it obsessive,” he says. These characteristics are what make Dr. Lowe so unique and well-regarded in his field. He calls himself a problem solver who was trained in both the artistry and technical aspects of plastic surgery. “When patients come in for BOTOX® or fillers, Dr. Lowe says "they are always surprised that I administer these procedures myself.” He wants to be sure that every procedure, whether it's plastic surgery or laser treatment or injectable fillers, is performed with the same high level of expertise.
