Our mission at Grotting Plastic Surgery is to provide experienced quality care to men and women interested in plastic surgery. Our office is uniquely designed to provide comfort, privacy, and confidentiality for each patient. Our staff has years of experience with all aspects of plastic surgery and will be available to answer any questions or concerns that might arise before or after surgery.

Professional Background
Dr. James C. Grotting is a Clinical Professor of Plastic Surgery at The University of Alabama at Birmingham and The University of Wisconsin, Madison. He is the founder of his private practice in Birmingham, Alabama. He has been listed for 21 consecutive years in “The Best Doctors in America.” He is a senior examiner for the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Dr. Grotting is a member of both the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Association of Plastic Surgeons. He serves on the Board of Directors and Vice President for The Aesthetic Society, for which he is also the Education Commissioner. He is past president of the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons. Dr. Grotting has been a traveling Professor for both the Plastic Surgery Foundation and The Aesthetic Society. He is the founder of CosmetAssure, an insurance program that covers unexpected financial exposure for patients from complications in cosmetic surgery.
Dr. Grotting serves on numerous editorial boards and is the author of six major textbooks in plastic surgery. He has lectured around the world and published numerous chapters and peer-reviewed journal articles in the fields of cosmetic surgery, aesthetic breast surgery, patient safety, and breast reconstruction. He has provided free plastic surgery for children with facial deformities in developing countries, through Operation Smile, since 1987.

Grotting Plastic Surgery has a state-of-the-art fully AAAASF accredited surgical facility where virtually all cosmetic procedures can be performed. When an overnight stay is recommended, the Hyatt Place Hotel is conveniently located adjacent to our facility. Anesthesia and sedation is provided by experienced certified registered nurse anesthetists.
Hospital procedures are performed at the University of Alabama Highlands Hospital, St. Vincent's Hospital, or Brookwood Medical Center.
