He is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Culbertson is a very active participant of the ASPS & ASAPS. He has been Chairman or Vice-Chair of 5 committees & a member of over 25 different National Plastic Surgery Society committees. He has extensive experience in all forms of Aesthetic and Cosmetic Surgery from Breast Surgery to Facial Rejuvenation. Dr. Culbertson is a recognized local expert in Aesthetic Surgery and Medical Director of the Iris Surgery Center. I haven't made any progress with the dense, waxy numbness on both sides of my face after a midface/lower lid lift seven weeks ago. I really regret having had these procedures done and I am concerned about damaged nerves...maybe the infraorbital? The numbness begins at the temples, down to the center…

Parathesia or numbness after such a procedure is very common. It usually will resolve over the course of many many months. Often, a good sign is the feeling like little electrical shocks or bugs crawling under/towards the numb area of skin. This is a sign of reinnervation. There are some Vitamins ( i.e. Vitamin B6, etc. ) that allegedly can hasten this reinnervation process. Permanent or complete loss of protective sensation is rare. It could be a bit early to see a Neurologist.

Yes, there are prescription medications that many practitioners utilize post laser resurfacing to assist in the maturation of the skin. Some are bleaching agents, steroids, etc. and even Retin A. An examination would be required to determine which agent would be best in your case. Consider a ASAPS member in your area for an evaluation & possible course of treatment.

I had my 11 year old saline implants out on August 1st under local. The capsules remain. My right breast feels soft but left breast is hard and larger. Sometimes simple removal of breast implants without removal of the capsule can be OK. Serial aspiration & compression can sometimes make the process you describe better. But, sometimes the complete capsule has to be removed. Unfortunately, this may be the case for you. Consider addressing your concerns with the original surgeon who removed your implants. If you are not satisfied consider a consult with an ASAPS member in your area for a evaluation and suggestions on treatment.

I am undergoing surgery for cataract removal in both eyes Oct/Nov. How long should I wait before having a cosmetic procedure involving the lower eyelids? I was thinking February or about 3 months?

Oculoplastic surgery after cataract surgery can be considered OK when your ophthalmologist says you are OK. This is usually very quick (3 to 4 weeks). Some prefer to wait at least 2 months before any surgery.
