Inverted nipple

My left breast is smaller and the nipple is inverted. I want them both same size and not bigger just firmer. What do you recommend?

Nipple inversion can usually easily be corrected. Unfortunately, the most common side effect is numbness of your nipple and inability to breast feed from that nipple. The size discrepancy can be corrected with an implant under the smaller breast. As far as your desire to be "firmer", but not larger.... Implants will make you firmer and larger. There is no way to insert an implant without making you larger. If you have drooping and loose skin, then a breast lift will tighten your skin and make them firmer. The best thing to do is consult a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon to be evaluated and determine in person what is best for you. Good Luck!

Sorry to hear about your persistent pain. It is most likely associated with either the capsule around the implant or scar tissue. Sometimes the capsule or scar tissue can irritate a nerve or muscle that can cause this discomfort. There is not much you can do on your own except try massaging this area aggressively to try to break up or stretch the scar tissue in this area. This may help. If it does not, the only other thing I have seen to be effective is to remove the capsule in this area. Although this usually works, there is no guarantee. Definitely seek a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in your area for another opinion. Good Luck Dr Markmann

Breast lift surgery does not usually prevent or limit breast feeding ability. Of course, it depends on the technique used, but usually there is no impact on ability to breastfeed. I always tell my patients, If you could breastfeed prior to your lift, you should be able to breastfeed after your lift. However, if you have never breastfed, then we don't know that you can. There is a small percentage of american women who have never had any surgery on their breast, but still cannot breastfeed. Breastfeeding is great for your baby, so hopefully you won't have any problems. I wish you best of luck! Dr Markmann

Hello! Unfortunately, insurance rarely covers body contouring procedures. One procedure that they do usually cover is called a panniculectomy. A panniculectomy is like half of a tummy tuck. If you have an overhanging roll of skin, with irritation and infections beneath the skin, they will usually cover this procedure. I've never gotten them to cover a full Tummy Tuck. Good luck Dr M
