Professional Background

Dr. Matas received his plastic surgery training at the University of Texas Medical Branch, Saint Joseph Medical Center, and MD Anderson in Houston, TX, as well Harvard’s Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston. In addition to the thousands of procedures at these institutions, this specialized plastic surgery training included time in Miami, Florida with heavy focus on Aesthetic surgery with world leading experts specializing in rhytidectomy (facelift), blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), and breast surgery (augmentations, reductions and lifts) as well as detailed training in the application of injectables (Botox, dermal fillers, etc.). Dr. Matas has also trained in several Children’s Hospitals such as Children’s Hospital Boston, Massachusetts, Dell Children Medical Center in Austin, Texas, and Driscoll Children’s Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. Carlos Mata, M.D also obtained a fellowship in craniofacial surgery in an esteemed institution that would have included time in Paris, France. However, the United States government needed Dr. Matas sooner than anticipated. He is currently a Major in the US Army and currently practices at Eglin Air Force Base and is the Chief of Plastic and Reconstructive surgery.
