I am a 45 year old male and I have droopy eyelids. What type of eyelid surgery do you recommend for me. Also, I would prefer to have general anesthesia when this is done. Is this feasible?

The type of procedure needed for droopy eyelids depends on the exact amount and location of the droop and the surrounding anatomy. The procedure can range from injection of the surrounding area to a full surgical procedure with tightening of the eyelid attachment to the orbit. See a plastic surgeon with significant experience with in eyelid rejuvenation, as that is the only way to have your question answered.

Excess skin of the upper eyelids is generally treated with a procedure call a Blepharoplasty, where the excess skin is removed and any excess fat as well. This is typical done as an outpatient under local with sedation but can be done under deeper anesthesia. You would need to be evaluated to see if the issue is excess skin or ptosis of the eyelid which is a muscle problem requiring a different type of surgery. With ptosis, one has a problem opening the eye have then skin hanging. The other cause of "droopy" eyelids could be the brow/eyebrow skin falling. I recommend who consult with a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery to determine what is the best course of action for you.

Droopy Eyelids - The best treatment for droopy eyelids in a male is a conservative Upper Blepharoplasty. This will look natural and will not look overdone like the patient has had an operative procedure, which is often seen in male patients that undergo Blepharoplasty procedures.
