Popular Nonsurgical Treatments for Facial Aging
Nonsurgical facial aging treatments are not substitutes for a facelift, they can be performed in conjunction with a surgical treatment explains board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Laurie Cases These treatments include Botox, hyaluronic acid fillers, laser skin resurfacing, chemical peels, intense pulsed light (IPL), and more.
“I think the most important thing we have to do as plastic surgeons is become internists of facial aging,” notes Dr. Casas. “All the nonsurgical aspects of plastic surgery are very exciting. We don’t have patients that want to have surgical procedures; they come to us because they are not ready to undergo surgery. It’s a very exciting time as nonsurgical treatments continue to grow in popularity.”
Nonsurgical procedures increased by 22% last year according to 2015 cosmetic surgery statistics from the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS). The top five nonsurgical procedures were Botox, hyaluronic acid, hair removal, chemical peel, and microdermabrasion.
