Popular Nonsurgical Treatment Options for the Face
The number of nonsurgical procedures has increased by 508% since 1997, according to the 2014 statistics on cosmetic surgery released by the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
“A lot of patients come into the office and are not looking for a surgical procedure and if we don’t feel it is necessary or required we offer them nonsurgical treatment options,” explains Dr. Samuel Shatkin Jr., a board-certified plastic surgeon based in New York.
Last year, more than 8.8 million nonsurgical procedures were performed nationwide with Botulinum toxin injections being the most popular.
“Nonsurgical options don’t only include fillers and injectables, but also topical service devices that tighten the skin, improve the quality of the skin, and change the way brown and red spots look,” notes Dr. Shatkin. “These options will homogeneously improve the entire quality of the patient’s appearance, which ultimately is our goal.”
