Why More Men are Seeking Plastic Surgery
Plastic surgery is no longer just for women. The growing trend of male cosmetic surgery is attributed to men wanting to look refreshed and young again. Board-certified plastic surgery, Dr. Adam Hamawy shares insight on the influx of men who are now interested in plastic surgery.
“The number of men receiving plastic surgery has tripled over the last 17 years. Men are now getting facelifts and nose jobs. Two popular procedures are hair restoration and gynecomastia surgery to get rid of excess fat in the breast,” explains Dr. Hamawy.
According to ASAPS 2014 statistics, men had more than one million procedures performed. The top plastic surgery procedure performed for men was liposuction.
“The workforce is a big contributor to men undergoing plastic surgery. Older men want to stay competitive in the job market with their younger colleagues, they want to look fresh and ready to do the job,” notes Dr. Hamawy. “If you are looking for natural results, less down time, fewer risks and complications, all patients should consult with a surgeon who is experienced, board-certified and a member of ASAPS.”
