Is 40 Too Young For A Facelift?

Board-certified plastic surgeon, Dr. Andrew Ordon says although 40 is young, there are a couple of instances where that procedure is indicated.

“If you were much bigger and lost weight which left you with loose skin, then you could be a candidate for a facelift at an age like 40,” notes Dr. Ordon.

Another instance is if you have bad acne scars on your face, it has been shown that doing a facelift might help by putting the skin under tension. This will help with the quality of the acne scars.

“We can also do a mid-facelift on someone in their 40s who wants a lift more in the mid-face. The procedure is performed inside the mouth with limited incisions in the scalp,” explains Dr. Ordon.

Facelift surgery techniques have evolved over the years, so plastic surgeons are now able to perform more modified versions of the traditional facelift. It is important for patients to seek a board-certified plastic surgeon with years of experience performing facelifts.
