The IDEAL Implant Gives Women More Options for Breast Augmentation
The IDEAL implant was approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), offering women another breast implant option. In 2014, breast augmentation was one of the top five surgical procedures performed; 80% of breast implants used were silicone and 20% were saline.
“A lot of women were concerned about the saline implant because of the rippling and water bag feeling,” explains Dr. Jennifer Walden, a board-certified plastic surgeon based in Texas. “The IDEAL implant offers the safety profile and perkiness of a saline implant with the natural feel of a silicone implant.”
It gives women peace of mind because if it ruptures, they will realize it right away and don’t have to undergo any expensive test to detect the silent rupture like the silicone implant.
